Sudden Impact and Kent Juniors Claim U18 Bids the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship
Sudden Impact VBC 18 Tsunami went to the bid tournament without UW Commit Avie Niece in the middle and outside hitter Jemma Yeadon and came away with the tournament championship and the National Bid to the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships. It was standout performances by Shayne McPherson at Libero and Natalie Robinson who set and hit right side that led the team to the title. Their win in the finals came over Kent Junior 18 Baden who accepted the American Division bid.
Sudden Impact will compete in the special Girls U18 Junior National Championship event being held by USA Volleyball April 29- May 1 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event is new to USAV this year as they try to design a U18 program that will be more appealing to graduating seniors than a late June tournament.
Kent Juniors will play in the full Girls Junior National Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana June 24 through July 3rd. The American Division is the only U18 division that did not move to the earlier date on the calendar.
Both teams will have opportunities to improve their bids to either USA or Open Division bids by winning those bids at upcoming qualifiers such as the Pacific Northwest Qualifier in Spokane, Washington and the Far West Qualifier in Reno, Nevada.
Puget Sound VBA 18-Pat is next in line for a trickle down bid should either of the two finalists improve their bid. Olympic Premier 18 Relentless finished fourth.
The bid tournament for the rest of the Puget Sound Region age divisions will take place on April 2nd at various locations around the Puget Sound Region.
