2016 Puget Sound Region Power League Seeding Day U18 Recap
The holidays ended but before heading back to school the high school age athletes of Puget Sound Region volleyball took to the court for Power League Seeding Day. On what is traditionally one of the longest and most exciting tournament days of the year, teams from as far away as Chehalis Yakima and Ferndale came together to compete and determine their starting seeds for the four Power League Point Scoring tournaments.
Washington Volleyball Academy 18 Mizuno on Seeding Day
The U18 division featured four University of Washington commits with Gatorade Player of The Year Shayne Mcphereson (Kenndy HS 2017) and Middle Hitter Avie Niece (Newport HS 2016) competing for the number 1 seed Sudden Impact 18 Tsunami team and Kara Bajema (Lynden Christian HS 2016) and Lauren Sanders (Glacier Peak HS 2017) respresenting Washington Volleyball Academy's 18 Mizuno squad. All three teams earned their way into the top flight of eight and will face off in the next round with an opportunity for the top four teams to advance to the Platinum Division and face the top four teams from the Columbia Empire Region (Southern Washington & Oregon) of USA Volleyball.
Three U17 teams qualified for the top flight of the U18 Power League they came from Sudden Impact VBC, Kent Juniors and Seattle Juniors. Kent Juniors and Sudden Impact saw both their 17s and 18s teams make it to the top flight. The U18 Power League competition is January 24.
